Organic germanium consists of a ring of 6 germanium atoms, which are tightly surrounded by 12 oxygen atoms.

The germanium is like an adhesive that holds the 12 oxygen atoms together in a very small space, but does not itself react with the organism.

This oxygen bound by the germanium is not released into the organism, but mainly serves as a radical scavenger for H + ions. Food is burned by the body, producing carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2). The carbon dioxide finds its way out of the body by exhaling it through the lungs. In contrast, the hydrogen combines with inhaled oxygen to form water and is excreted through the kidneys and skin.
